Guest speaker Colleen Lux graduate in Environmental studies
from Montana University, USA, visited our support group and spoke about asbestos
issues in Libby, Montana. Colleens spoke about the gritty struggle for justice
in Libby, which was the site of the most lethal environmental disaster in US
history created by a private company.
In her address to the members it was realised that alot of what has happened in Libby can also be related to what has happened in Latrobe Valley. Colleen stayed for a couple days and was treated to a tour of Latrobe Valley where she enjoyed the local cuisine, toured the power stations and delighted in the local wild life, such as kangaroos, native birds etc.
Colleen had two guest spots on the local radio station ABC Sale and talked about her knowledge on Libby and her visit to Australia especially Latrobe Valley, Victoria.
