James Hardie
Campaign at Telstra AGM
GARDS members travelled by bus on Thursday 28th of October to attended a rally
organised outside the Melbourne Convention Centre where the Telstra AGM was
taking place. Asbestos sufferers, their families, unions and friends gathered
to send a clear message to Telstra chair and James Hardie board member Donald
McGauchie that he should resign for not looking after Telstra employees. He
helped provide golden hand shakes of 9 million dollars to disgraced Hardie executives.
Instead he should have been making sure the Telstra workers could access compensation
for their work related illnesses.
He was also reminded outside at the rally when he votes on the James Hardie
board which interest he is serving? Telstra workers or the profits of James
Hardie?
