INTERNATIONAL
VISITORS TO GARDS
Early in August the GARDS organisation hosted 40 1st year Medical
students from the Asia Pacific region the students came from mainly Malaysia.
The students were given an over view of what asbestos is and how it was used
in our community and the rest of Australia and the world. They were also taught
about the effects that asbestos diseases has in a community the social, health,
emotional and environmental impact that this deadly carcinogen causes. They
were warned of what could unfold in their countries into the future and to be
ever vigilant. The students and the lecturers were treated to an afternoon tea
and were given information packs to take with them. The tutorial was regarded
as a success by their lecturers and GARDS has now been apart of this for the
last 2 years. GARDS is very proud to be apart of the International Medical students
learning experience when they are in Australia for their educational studies.
