CANCER CARE CENTRE UPDATE
GARDS was very privileged to have Nicole Steers, Latrobe Regional
Hospital Group Manager of Continuing Care come along to give a talk to over
30 members of the GARDS group on the final touches to the Gippsland Cancer Care
Centre.
The GCCC is on schedule to open mid May for Gippsland people needing treatment
for cancer. Nicole introduced to the group the newly appointed Senior Radiation
Therapist from the William Buckland Radiotherapy Centre, Nigel Cristofaro, who
will be working at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre. Nigel comes with a wealth
of experience from his travels overseas and has only just recently returned
to Australia and has been in Latrobe Valley for only six weeks. The third member
of the team to visit from LRH was Armita Hanley - a Management Resident participating
in the Rural Management Residency Program of the Victorian Healthcare Association.
Armita will be at LRH for six months to gain experience in the health field.
