ACV/GARDS Reps Meet with Professor Dean Fennell UK & Other Aussie Respiratory Leaders in Melbourne

Monday 19th August business dinner in Melbourne with some really good company talking about all things asbestos and silica – we met Prof Dean A. Fennell FMedSci from the UK. This invaluable opportunity was made possible by the recently launched Commonwealth Mesothelioma Research Network (CMRN) – a partnership between ADDRI and Mesothelioma UK, supported by the Biaggio Signorelli Foundation – which will open a pathway between Australia and the UK to expand the opportunities for clinical trials and clinical research; increase specialist mesothelioma nurse training at ADDRI; and, partnering on essential international training projects in Commonwealth countries. Ultimately, the efforts are driven by one goal: to improve outcomes and support for patients. For us at ACV/GARDS this allowed us to meet him and listen to what is happening in the UK – it was extremely exciting. It was so good to catch up with A/Prof. Anthony Linton -Academic and Research Director |Asbestos and Dust Diseases Research Institute (ADDRI) along with Associate Professor Tom John Medical Oncologist and Dr Ryan Hoy, respiratory and sleep disorders physician in The Alfred Occupational Respiratory Clinic, and Karen Walker-Bone – Director, Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health, Monash University. It was a wonderful night of exchanging information and listening to break through trials that could change the path for asbestos and silica sufferers into the future. Thank you to ADDRI for organising this most fantastic get together. Pictured below are Vicki and Tanya from ACV/GARDS with our esteemed guests – such a fun night for us
