National Asbestos Awareness Week 21st Nov – 27th Nov 2022

National Asbestos Awareness Week starts today in Australia – Mon 21st – 27th November

It’s vital that you understand the invisible dangers of asbestos.

Breathing in asbestos fibers can lead to diseases such as asbestosis,

lung cancer and mesothelioma. These diseases can take decades to

develop and have no known cure. They can cause debilitating illness

and premature death.

As a young apprentice fitter and machinist, Brian Healy was exposed

unsafely to asbestos in the workplace, leading to his diagnosis of

mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer.

“Being young, you did what the boss told you to do…. and you just did

your job. But the only one who’s going to suffer later on down the track

will be you if you don’t look after yourself.”
