Visit to the Asbestos Dust Diseases Research Institute Sydney
18th & 19th Feb ACV/GARDS (Vicki and Tanya) travelled to Sydney along with Kimberley Crawford Asbestosis and Mesothelioma Association of Australia: AMAA, Melita Markey Asbestos and Dust Diseases Society of Australia and Liz Schenk Asbestos Diseases Foundation. We all were delighted to be invited to the Asbestos and Dust Diseases Research Institute, to help in advancing an exciting research project focused on the impact of psycho-social support on patient outcomes. ADDRI thinks it’s incredibly valuable to have the unique perspectives and experiences of support groups from around Australia dedicated to providing the best possible social support for people affected by dust diseases around the country.
The day also offered us all a wonderful opportunity for ADDRI to present its current research work and give us all a tour of of their labs. We are excited at the thought to progress this collaborative effort with ADDRI, and extend our sincere thanks to Mat Werfel a member of the ADDRI board, Kim Brislane CEO of ADDRI, Anthony Linton Head of Research, Shane McArdle Manager – International Projects , Carmel Oostveen Mesothelioma Support Coordinator, Jennifer Coles Silicosis Support Coordinator and a special mention to Nina O’Connell Locke for all her help in organizing us.
